You may have noticed that 'The Book and the Bodhi Tree' hasn't been updated since December which is due to the amount of other commitments, such as 'the book' (Jet's Lore), my memoir and a few other little projects I'm working on.

- Carly-Jay Metcalfe is Brisbane based writer writer of literary fiction, poetry, biography and her memoir 'chasing away salt water'. She is one semester away from completing her (research) Masters in Creative Writing, which sounds gloriously smug and smacked with self-importance. It is neither of those things. Carly-Jay has been on an extended leave of absence due to a deluge of ill health from which she will always be recovering. Her fiction, non-fiction and poetry have been published in various anthologies and her short story 'The Twelve Hands of Mother Lode', published in the Wet Ink 'Emerge' anthology was lauded as 'warm and evocative' by the Sydney Morning Herald. It was also a finalist in the 2002 State Library of Queensland Young Writers Award. A work of non-fiction was published in the Vignette Press 'Death Mook' in 2009 and more recently, was invited to collaborate on a poem for Overland's 200th issue. Carly-Jay has presented papers at writing conferences, performed her work, been short-listed and runner-up for various literary awards and will appear at the Emerging Writers Festival in Melbourne in late May 2011. It's a jungle out there.
